This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When our school suddenly shut down in March with less than 24 hours notice, we all did not know that this would be the last time I saw my students in our classroom. I frantically gave them their workbooks as they left campus hoping I would see them again in a few weeks to pick back up where we left off. However, our world turned upside down and everyone was stuck at home with limited supplies and materials to finish off their school year.

To begin this new school year with a brand new set of middle school students, I want to set them up for success from the beginning by making sure that every student has materials at home to be successful in distance learning.

While much of our work will be on the computer, I do not want my students staring at a screen all day and hope to engage them through other hands-on activities they can do at home. However, many of my students rely on me and my classroom supplies to complete their work.

My Project

These learning supplies will help my students complete a variety of hands-on tasks in both Math and Science. In addition to providing my students online learning, I also want to make sure they are not just staring at a screen all day but using their brains in different ways to help the variety of learners I will have in my classroom.

These supplies will help create an at-home classroom as best as we can to help my students still engage in the material and challenge themselves to learn new things.

I plan to give my students these materials at a socially-distanced meet-and-greet before the school year starts to set them up for success right away. I do not want my students to be unable to participate in learning because of a lack of supplies at home.
