This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm a special education teacher and I teach a PCC class that celebrates inclusion. My students spend their day with their typically developing peers. My classroom is about building skills to get included. The work we do in this classroom is accessing general education content in different ways. Many of my students are English language learners and have a range of communication disabilities and delays in language. In my class, we believe in positive behavior support and try our best to meet the needs of each individual child. We celebrate little wins together each day. The majority of my students come from low-income households, so your donations make a huge difference in their learning. My students are in need of at-home learning materials.
My Project
I want to make sure my new students have all the materials they need to be ready to support their learning. This kit comes with a backpack featuring must-have items for learning at home, including activities that reinforce key skills like counting and letter recognition. From colorful bears to sort and count and a language-building book of nursery rhymes to a ball for motor activities and more—all the supplies are developmentally appropriate and fun. I want to make sure every student has the same supplies. This kit will provide my students with hands-on learning resources to engage with every day at home. The kit also comes with step-by-step directions and an activity calendar in both English and Spanish to help family members support student learning at home.
