My Project
My students are pre-kindergarten students who meet the state requirements and are labeled as being "at-risk" of not succeeding; thus, they are placed in the program to help them succeed. They are four years of age and live in a medium-large city. My school follows the "Nurtured Heart" philosophy, where we work to find greatness in each child. In my classroom, I try to make each child comfortable and part of our school family.
Elizabeth Foss says, "When the atmosphere encourages learning, the learning is inevitable."
My students are preparing to enter Kindergarten in the fall next year. Thus, I chose the PreK/Kindergarten at home learning packs, because these materials are most appropriate to help them as they learn. I am trying to make my children's learning atmosphere strong and enriched, so that they can be prepared for kindergarten. These at-home learning kits will be given to the children to keep at home in the Spring/Summer, as we begin our transition to Kindergarten. These kits will help them with literacy, math, and other subjects, as they begin to enter kindergarten.
