Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We've been listening to the Student Voice and Aspiration piece through our district and this year. My goal is to create a college-themed classroom to inspire my students to move from hibernation and dreaming to achieving and aspirations!
My students are finishing up their last year at the elementary school that many have attended since Pre-K, and I want to instill in them the love for education and to encourage them to individually want to continue on their journey to a better self via education from middle school to high school and beyond.
My Project
As we inch closer to the end of the school year, I can already tell that with the right academia, consistent instruction, and steadfast motivation, my students are one step closer to becoming successful citizens of the world. I teach at a Title I school and the majority of our students qualify for the federal free meal and reduced-price lunch plans.
Because field trips are a luxury due to our limited school budget, many of our students have never heard of the Griffith Park Observatory, let alone the magical astronomy experience that occurs there.
This project will cover the cost of round trip bus transportation to the Observatory.
I know my students will love experiencing the spectacular Samuel Oschin Planetarium show. The Solar System Lawn Model will surely be an astounding astronomy experience also. This field trip will also serve as a valuable research opportunity, since my students will be taking part in a group solar system and space presentation back in the classroom.
