Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students in my class are curious and inquisitive. They come from diverse background. Their differences makes our class community rich and interesting. They are kind and compassionate towards each other’s differences. They love helping each other learn. They come to school everyday ready to learn and share what they know.
My students are very expressive about their thoughts and feelings.
They are not afraid to make mistakes or ask questions.
Most of my students do not have books at home to read. They bring books from school everyday and bring them back the next. The books in our classroom are outdated which makes it hard for students to relate what they are reading to their life.
My Project
Do you know anyone in your life who has struggled to read and write as a young scholar?
We are human and we are all different from each other.
I have diverse learners in my class. Some of my students are reading on a 2nd-grade level, some on 1st and some on emergent kindergarten level. One of the ways I can support my diverse learners better is by using the iPads requested in this project. This generation is so fortunate to have different assistive technology to support young diverse learners. Unfortunately, although there are many technologies available my class does not have devices to access those technologies.
My students can use phonics with visuals application to learn letter and sound recognition. Students who are struggling to read can still access content knowledge by self speak technology to read the story or story problems to help them acquire comprehension skills.
My visual learners will have access to unlimited visual cues through various applications to learn math, literature, and writing.
