Assistance for Aspiring Actors and Poets

My students need a video camera to record and study their performances.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Arias's classroom raised $516

I am a first year Drama teacher. I have incorporated theater and poetry in my classroom. The students are learning all aspects of theater and how to write creatively. I am currently teaching 1st through 8th grades. It is a challenge but the children love it when they see what they have accomplished and that makes it all worth while for me. The school I teach at is a Charter school. The children we service are from a very high need community. We are dedicated to offer the very best education to all our students. Our school is very unique because we have incorporated the arts into our curriculum.

One of the obstacles the students and I face is not having the supplies we need. We are currently working on all aspects of theater production and the children expressed the desire to tape their performances so that they can have a record of them. The students also suggested that by reviewing their performance they could improve their technique for the next time they perform.

Having a camcorder in the class room would be very beneficial to the students. As I stated before they would be allowed to film, review, and have a record of their performances.

Your help will ensure that my students have an exemplary experience in Theater class. I've seen them fill with pride when they accomplish something like performing a play and hearing the applause afterward. Some of the children I teach may never be exposed to the arts outside of what I teach them or where we go on felid trips. If they were able to have a record of something spectacular that they did it would mean the world to them and may even encourage them to set goals for a future in theater.
