My Students

My students are using 10 year old computers in the classroom and are watching lessons projected on a computer that only works if we cross our fingers!

My students are amazing learners and inspire me to continue to teach with excitement and enthusiasm as well as to continue to learn and grow professionally.

They are part of a small school of only 250 students, a rarity nowadays. Many receive free or reduced price lunches based on their families' incomes and our school is constantly making sure they have what they need in order to succeed in life! We just received the California Distinguished Award and the Title I Academic Award which demonstrates how hard we all work and how much we all care about education.

My Project

Currently I am using an outdated computer that is not able to access many websites and does not connect to the Smartboard in the classroom which sadly sits there collecting dust. The teacher computer is vital for me to create exciting lessons, project information from the Internet, and in teaching the students how to create projects that are based on technology such as PowerPoint or IMovie. I am unable to teach these applications with the computer that I am using in the classroom. I feel that my students are falling behind while so many others are gaining skills simply due to a single laptop.

My students will learn and experience what thousands of students across the country are able to.

I will be able to use the Smartboard in the class, teach them how to make movies, and show them the doors that access to technology can open. Please help hundreds of future young people.
