I am a middle school band teacher. My school is in a high-need community and is also a title one school. My band includes students in grades 5 through 8.
Band is one of the few activities offered in my school. I have a list of students who would like to play in the band, but aren't able to do so. Many of my students families simply cannot afford to rent or purchase their own instrument. It breaks my heart to have to tell a student that the school doesn't have the instrument they want to play. My school district is also in a financial crisis and the music budget has been cut.
I need a clarinet to add to my school band inventory. This clarinet will allow a student the opportunity to play in the band. Learning to make and play music with this clarinet is a lifelong skill. My students will be able to take these skills with them wherever life leads them. The addition of another band member will make the music program stronger.
You will make it possible for an aspiring musician to fulfill their musical hopes and dreams. Your help will ensure that my band program will continue to grow. Thanks to you, my students will be given the opportunity to play and create beautiful music.
