My Students
My students love to come to school and learn. However many of them do not have the required supplies needed everyday. Many students have asked for school supplies in our class treasure box. They would love to choose from composition books, folders, crayons and pencils to have in the class.
My school is in a low-income area with a high ESOL population.
I specifically teach 2nd grade with ESOL students who are beginners, Special Ed students who have a hard time writing, and Regular Ed students on various levels from Kindergarten level to 3rd grade. All of my students want to learn and have fun doing it. With the required school supplies available for them to earn, I expect good behaviors to increase.
My Project
My students earn raffle tickets for following our 5 school rules. These raffle tickets are turned in and are two students are chosen monthly during a school wide awards assembly. I also use the tickets in my classroom and draw 2 students weekly to pick from the classroom treasure chest.
In the past I have had toys of all sorts in the treasure chest but this class has been asking for school supplies as choices. My students enjoy earning the raffle tickets and when they would rather have school supplies over toys I am inclined to do my best to give it to them.
The composition books, folders, crayons, glue sticks and pencils would make my students happier and that's what I look forward to everyday.
These donations will help give my students the opportunity to earn more raffle tickets.
By giving my students supplies and prizes that they ask for I expect my students to be provided with the opportunity to want to do better, and get what they wish for in return.
