it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a small Title I high school in Long Island City. We are an un-screened school that admits a broad range of diverse students from all five of NYC's great boroughs. Due to the students' hard work and the dedication that the teachers and administration show every day, our graduation, college attendance and college readiness rates far exceed the citywide average.
Our hardworking students strive to succeed in the Big Apple.
The vibe throughout my school is relaxed, friendly and close-knit. Students and administrators are on a first-name basis, and we pay close attention to students' needs. Working with these kids is one of the greatest joys of my life!
My Project
My students are a mix of general education, special education, and English language learners. Having access to Alexa Echos in class will give them the ability to ask Alexa a question about a vocabulary word, translate what they would like to say, or see real examples of what we're learning up close and personal with their virtual reality glasses.
Some of my students never get to leave NYC; Alexa will put the whole world at their fingertips.
My students would be able to ask Alexa questions which will deepen their understanding of our curriculum and improve their natural curiosities. Having all of this information at their request will better prepare them for the world ahead of them outside of high school.
