This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The school library is quickly becoming one of the most well-loved places on our campus! I'd love to reward and encourage their interest in the library (and reading!) by purchasing some of the books they've suggested. We've created a great system for students to suggest new books or topics for the library.
By reading the books they are most interested in - even if that topic seems frivolous or silly to adults - my students can improve their reading skills.
When students feel like partners in choosing their own books, they get more excited about reading and learning and are more likely to continue those habits their whole lives.
This is our eighth "As You Wish" project and the titles on our list include more books for our growing Spanish language section, as well as new sets of the super-popular Elephant and Piggie series and The Pigeon books. Both of those will replace some very battered and well-loved copies!
