Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The school library is quickly becoming one of the most well-loved places on our campus! I'd love to reward and encourage their interest in the library (and reading!) by purchasing some of the books they've suggested. We've created a great system for students to suggest new books or topics for the library.
By reading the books they are most interested in - even if that topic seems frivolous or silly to adults - my students can improve their reading skills.
When students feel like partners in choosing their own books, they get more excited about reading and learning and are more likely to continue those habits their whole lives.
This is our seventh "As You Wish" project and the titles on our list include more titles for our popular Dragon Master section as well as the highly-demanded Creepy Carrots series of pictures books by Aaron Reynolds. Some stand-alone picture books, including some fun ones about gardening, round out our list.
