My Students

I teach first grade in a large, urban school district.

My class is filled with very energetic 6 and 7 year olds!

Our classroom consists of students of varied academic levels. More than half of my students are from low‑income households. All receive free lunch.Their home lives are just as varied as they are.

Despite their differences, they all have one thing in common. They are each very special children. They each bring their special uniqueness to my classroom. Our classroom is a very busy and exciting place!

My Project

My students need art supplies, such as tempera paints, paint brushes, paint daubers, and paper, to jump-start their creativity. Due to continued budget cuts, the Visual Arts programs and other Fine Arts curricula are no longer in schools. This year, I am in a school with no art classes as well.

Art is a beautiful form of expression.

My students are very creative little people! They love to draw and color. They especially love to use colored markers because the colors are so vibrant!

I want them to be able to express their creativity through other mediums such as paint. With no art teacher this year, it is up to me to provide an outlet for all of that creativeness!
