My students come to school every day expecting to receive the best education I can possibly provide. As their teacher, I've attended multiple arts integration workshops so I can develop lessons that promote global skills like collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. What's missing, you ask?
Our school is a small Title I school with a motivated team of teachers and administrators who tirelessly work together to ensure all students reach their full potential.
My wonderful students come from a wide variety of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, but they all have at least one thing in common: they learn best by collaborating and exploring through hands-on activities. However, our school has been hit hard by budget cuts, and as a result, my students don't receive any specialized art instruction and teachers are scrambling for resources to accommodate different learning modalities.
My Project
The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker will accommodate the need for integration of Performing Arts in all areas of the curriculum. Theater, Music and Dance all encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Theater helps students understand the world, as they work together to create plays based on nature and human experiences. Music is a way to communicate ideas and feelings. As students listen to and perform music from various cultures, they expand their world view. Dance builds knowledge through exploration. Creative Process- Movement can be organized to explore Science and Social Studies concepts.
This project will greatly improve my classroom because it enables me to integrate Performing Arts into all areas of the curriculum.
Instead of sitting in their desk reading and writing, we can use the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker to engage in Arts Infused Inquiry Based Learning to incorporate various learning styles, adding depth and integrity through authentic learning experiences.
