Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have an amazing class of 25 dual language students. My fourth graders work very hard and put effort in completing assignments and weekly tests.
These paint markers will let students reuse plastics, and unneeded cds to create art pieces and will also allow them to relax and be creative during our state testing season.
Students will create mandalas from old cds, vases from plastic cereal cups. The markers will be used for different art projects. All my students enjoy art and are extremely creative.
The goal for this project is for the students to have fun creating art now that they are testing. My students are emergent bilinguals, learning both English and Spanish. They test in both languages and it is a lot of time spent on testing, 6 weeks. I would like the students to destress, and relax by creating art, using patterns, doing zentangles and/or mandalas. May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and making mandalas is a perfect way to introduce them to the history of mandalas.
