Do you remember the first time you used a computer? Do you remember the thrill of the interaction between you and the computer? Watching your thoughts magically connect through the strike of the keys or the click of the mouse and your vision appearing on the screen. What a feeling!
I have wonderful and loving students who have a high curiosity in learning with and using technology.
Working in a district with high poverty and in a school with high needs leaves me with a budget not built to provide many of their basic educational needs much less any technology needs. My students deserve to have essential materials that will enable them to learn, explore, and apply their knowledge.
My Project
My students are so wonderful and curious. Unfortunately, at least 85% of my students do not have access to computers at home. Many times the computers we have in school are plagued with issues or the times slotted to use the computer room are taken away for other uses often leaving few opportunities to gain experience in using a computer. This year, I would like to provide them with an opportunity to be movie directors and creators. The HP Pavilion 10.1 Tablet w/keyboard would be a welcome addition to their learning environment. It would allow my students time to learn computer skills such as: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and combined with Internet they could finally participate in research projects. Also, with the Andoer Photography Studio Backdrop, and Sony Movie Studio 11 they can make podcasts, movies, and so much more. Lastly, the headphones will allow silence for editing and a bag will keep all materials safe. This is an amazing opportunity to grow their skills for the real world.
If you choose to fund the tablet, bag, headphones, software, and backdrop for my students, you will be providing them with an opportunity for lifelong skills for their future.
Those lifelong skills will help them during the rest of their elementary school years, middle and high school, and even college. I can't thank you enough for looking into my project.
