Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Allowing students to express themselves is an important aspect to creating well rounded individuals. Going to school in an urban area, students are accustomed to seeing graffiti and spray paint in their surroundings. Allowing students to practice this medium can help them learn about their culture and neighborhood in an engaging manner.
Students engage in a real-world visual language that has always been about voice and visibility, especially in urban and oppressed communities.
Students will learn about activism through graffiti art. They will explore the history of racial and social injustices throughout history and come up with their own technique and imagery to demonstrate their thoughts on current issues.
