Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Working in Galveston has been such a highlight. As a former Galveston student, it is wonderful to be teaching in the schools that have made such an impact on myself.
As over 95% of these students come from economically disadvantaged families, we depend heavily on the generosity of the outside community and organizations such as DonorsChoose.org to help maintain our lively, enriching learning experience.
The students in my school are desperate for a creative outlet in a world now full of obstacles. I want to be able to help them see the beauty in their classroom, which would hopefully inspire them to reach the outside wall of the school.
My Project
The oil pastels will be able to give my students a form of media that they have possibly never used/seen before. I chose the larger crayons to help our Pre K students as well as our Life Skills population. All of these materials will allow the students to get materials of their own so they won't have to worry about germs transferring.
I want to be able to help them show off their amazing skills that they might not ever get to uncover.
I want to make their art come alive within the classroom as well outside. They deserve nothing less!
