My Students

Do you like art? Do you remember creating art projects and seeing them proudly displayed in the classroom? My students need tape and wiggly eyes for their upcoming projects.

I am the Art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.

We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from Kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.

My Project

Have you ever drawn a person with eyes? What does it look like? A little strange right? My kids love googly or wiggly eyes and we need some for our upcoming Dr. Seuss projects. These wiggly eyes will allow my students to have hands-on activities that will go along with their lessons. They not only will have the enjoyment of making the our art project but will also be working their motor skills by doing things such as cutting, gluing, picking up small items. The students love to put the googly eyes on their work. We usually end up with multiple eyes on one project! We are also requesting tape to fix and repair those ripped projects! Sometimes accidents happen!

Your help will ensure that my students get the hands-on experiences they need to learn and enjoy so much.

We value our time in the art room and without the correct supplies we can't create original works of art!
