My Students

My students are part of a diverse community. They are eager to learn and experience the creative process. They come in to the art room with great anticipation for what they will experience there. They love working with different art materials and take great pride in their accomplishments.

Art gives children the chance to express themselves like no other subject can.

The skills learned in art also transfer to academic subjects; helping our boys and girls to experience a richer, more well-rounded education.

My Project

In our art room, there is a comfy reading library with a wide variety of mostly picture books to engage students with their richly colored and detailed illustrations. My students enjoy going to the library after completing their work for the day. I want them to have books about art and artists to inspire their creative process. The books I've chosen will enhance my instruction and introduce my students to some of the most wonderful works of art and art techniques in the world. Many of these books are filled with beautiful images of works of art accompanied by facts. The how to draw books will help my students achieve independence and confidence in their ability to complete projects and express themselves creatively.

With the resources available to develop artistic skills and exposure to great art, my students will experience a high level of confidence to express themselves artistically.

There is a wide variety of books selected to pique my students interests, from anime to zentangle. As the children are taught and learn about techniques and artists, they will be experimenting and exploring different artistic styles, learning art history, and gain an appreciton for art they may not have had before.
