My Students

I teach K-8 Art at a high-performing charter school. This will be the first year these students are exposed to an art education, as we have just added the program to our school. The students are extremely excited to finally receive an art education. My students are all extremely dedicated scholars, working hard to make the most of the education they are provided here. They love engaging in hands-on and active projects, which I'm excited to utilize with them in the art room. Not only do the succeed academically but I know artistically they will flourish.

Art Education plays a crucial role in every child’s education, providing necessary skills for everyday life.

My role as an art educator is to expose my scholars to an environment where critical thinking, problem solving and self-expression is encouraged and established. These students come to school everyday ready to be challenged and take risks. I am so excited to see what all they can accomplish and achieve in the art room this year!

My Project

The use of wet and messy materials is almost a daily occurrence in any art room. The addition of this drying rack to our classroom will give my students the opportunity to get experiences with working in as many mediums as possible, many of them being messy and sticky. Because our art room is starting from scratch, there is some larger equipment we need, in order to start the year.

This drying rack will maximize our space with a safe and clean spot for the students artwork to dry.

It is important to me to handle students work carefully and intentionally. By keeping their artwork safe, it ensures that our classroom can run smoothly. With this being the first year they are receiving art, my goal is to have them making as much as possible, meaning we will need all the space we can get!
