Artists in the Making

Help me give my students art supplies in order to further their artistic abilities with watercolor pans and pastels.

My Students

Although our school has no formal art class, my students are eager to learn about art and to explore their creative sides. At the end of last year, I decided to create an Art Club in order to help enrich the students' education. I anticipated that there would be around twelve to twenty students interested in Art Club, over eighty students signed up and over fifty have been able to participate. Our school is made up of a mix of students from all socioeconomic backgrounds and walks of life and all are able to participate in Art Club.

My favorite thing about my students is that they all work together to include everyone and show kindness.

My students are eager to learn new things and be creative. They love to share their creations and they have been very receptive to learning something new.

We are a family at our school. My students, despite their own hardships or sadness, come to school and make the world around them brighter. They are true rock stars who will make a difference in our world.

My Project

Using these materials, students will create prints and paintings. We will study some famous artists and imitate their work (such as Van Gogh and Justin Vining) but we will also learn about the elements of Art and create original works. Students will learn about portraiture and landscape painting. My students will be able to participate in art shows and inspire other students with their creativity.

My students are incredibly eager to learn all that they can about art.

My students have already begun to study color and will be able to use the watercolors on this list to work on blending and mixing colors. We will use the daubers and India ink in order to create portraits and people we admire and prints throughout the year. We currently need more paint brushes and tempera paint for creating collages and landscapes. Each of these supplies is picked with specific projects in mind and will be used throughout the entire year (and years to come!)
