My students need 10 Pacon Art Street Watercolor & Marker Pads, 9x12", Quill Brand Permanent Markers Fine Point, Black, and Quill Brand Permanent Markers Extra Fine Point, as well as Common Core Standards cards.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Vincent Van Gogh once said, "The only time I feel alive is when I'm painting!" I completely agree, my students are happy when they paint. Art in many classrooms is currently being overlooked. However, visual arts should be part of every academic subject because without art, there is no creativity!
My students are smart, driven, and very verbal.
They are 95% Hispanic and 5% African American. Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socioeconomic limitations. They are exposed to violence and socioeconomic limitations, like lack of food, that others take for granted.
In my classroom, they get to dream because the sky is the limit. They've planned future traveling plans, designed their dream homes, and have become celebrated community heroes. The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming high is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. My students thrive as enthusiastic learners because they are provided with the right education and memories that will last a lifetime. As an educator, that's my life-long goal, to continue providing an environment conducive to learning.
My Project
The introduction to Common Core Standards doesn't mean that art lessons are out of our curriculum. Students get to be creative with the integration of visual art in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social studies. My students will be assigned a project to open up every Language Arts unit and another project to close the unit. Drawing and sketching observations should always be part of scientific observations. Visual art again aids Physical and Earth Science by making it more motivating and visual. My students will be encouraged to collaborate and work in groups to research topics in science of their interest. Then they will illustrate or make a model and present their research to their peers. With the donors' help, my students will have access to supplies like watercolor paper, glitter, many nature rubbing plates, & permanent markers. They will have the watercolor paper and markers available to explore and create their own projects in Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies.
I need your generosity to help my students have supplies to use and produce their own art pieces.
They deserve to learn about colors, lines, patterns, shades, shadows, value, and hues. My students will learn about famous painters like Van Gogh and Picasso and their contributions to modern art. Please help me put my students one step ahead of success by learning to appreciate art. In turn, my students will grow to be more appreciative of all the things in nature and in life that surround them.
