Help me give my students a chance to create art. We have just started a new art program at our Middle School and would love the opportunity to create paintings on canvases and wire sculptures.
My students are unique and special because they are all getting to experience art for the first time. It has been an amazing opportunity for me to introduce the basics of art to these talented middle school students.
We are a small school but have big dreams.
Our supply budget is limited, but we are still busy creating art. By supplying some basic supplies, the students will be able to create paintings and wire sculptures. They will be able to use acrylics and watercolors to bring their ideas to life.
We are located within the Cherokee Nation 14 county area, and the majority of our children are Native American. Also, every student in our district is on free lunches. Our students aren't able to purchase their own supplies, so the supplies we have are shared throughout the classes.
Art is an outlet for many students. It can boost their self confidence, which in return, can help with their academic achievement and overall well-being. Since COVID, we've seen struggles both academically and mentally. Art can be a coping mechanism for many students. We have started this program with the hopes that we will boost their confidence and hopefully, give them a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
