Art makes learning meaningful and FUN!
I teach a Kindergarten class in a high need community.
We have the very basics, in terms of arts and crafts supplies: paper, glue, crayons, markers. We need a variety of craft materials in order to develop our creativity, allow for our personal expressions, and aid us in internalizing the curriculum content. We are in Kindergarten! We need to get our hands dirty...making, and doing. Books are wonderful, but we also need the opportunity to respond to the books we read using an array of artistic media.
We are seeking craft items that will help us to add dimension to our projects. Things like: yarns, clay, feathers, raffia, wooden pieces, cotton stems, etc... These materials will allow us to take our regular 2-D art projects to a new level of creativity and understanding.
Our teacher is working hard to collect found materials, and spending her minimal salary, to ensure that we receive the most positive, productive, and memorable learning experiences possible. Your help in providing us with these arts and craft materials would let us make the most of our Kindergarten experience. I am sure you remember being in Kindergarten. :)
