My Students

As a teacher at a Title I school, my students are mostly from low-income homes. My students are very happy and eager to learn. They come from many different backgrounds and communities. Although they are all different, they all get along. We come together to learn and help each other succeed every day.

We serve 644 students pre-k through fifth grade and over 60 percent of them come from a low-income household, but they still come to school happy.

They love to learn new things in new ways. They are proud of all they accomplish and love to show off their work.

My Project

My project includes many art supplies and snacks for my classroom. My students come from many different situations and I try to make learning fun for them. The art supplies, such as colored pencils, crayons, and markers allow them to do classwork in an artistic way. They love writing their phonics words and practicing letters in marker and crayons. The scented markers take that excitement even further for my students.

I also included snacks in my project because sometimes school is the only place where students can get a full belly.

We use our snacks as a working snack during silent reading time. I love to be able to offer these snacks but cannot always afford them.

This project will impact my students in many ways, from sending them home with more food in their bellies to allowing them to be more artistic in the classroom.
