This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in Huntington Park, California.
My classroom supports students with moderate to severe autism and I currently have ten students.
Many of my students are also English language learners and most are non-verbal communicators.
The individual needs of my students vary greatly so it is important to have materials and activities that engage them all. They learn best through the use of pictures, manipulatives, and kinesthetic activities. My students enjoy hands-on materials and are eager to explore new objects.
My Project
My students would really benefit from having new art supplies in the classroom. The items I am requesting are items that are not available at our school but would be great to have in a classroom like ours where we are working on fine motor skills and sensory integration. My students love hands-on activities and tools like the easy to hold play-doh rollers will make learning and creating a more interactive experience. I plan to use these essential classroom materials not only art projects but for language arts and math lessons as well. I know my students will be thrilled to have these items.
