Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The art materials in this project will be used to provide hands-on materials to students and provide them with exposure to different cultures. Students will use needles, thread, and felt to create stuffed animals, learning basic sewing skills along the way. The sets of dotting tools will be used to create mandalas and dot paintings. with an emphasis on learning about and respecting the cultures of other peoples. The ink and acrylic pens will allow the students to explore media they already use in novel ways, and the watercolor paper will let them experience a better quality of work than painting on sulphite paper. The inkless drawing boards and water pens will be used as a center where the students use a new material, learn about another culture, and can work without fearing mistakes because the product is impermanent.
Students involved in Fine Arts tend to do better in school all the way through high school.
With that in mind, I try to provide many different experiences as possible for my students to show them that art incorporates many materials and techniques beyond paper and pencil.
