My students need proper materials such as multicultural colored paper, paint misters, tissue paper squares and assorted paints so that they can create wonderful works of art to express themselves.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a STEAM Charter School. Because it is a brand new elementary school, which just opened last year, and we are in a low socioeconomic area, we are lacking proper art equipment. To put the A in STEAM, we need Art tools and supplies beyond the dollar store budget that we have.
These students are just learning how to be creative students who are hungry to expand their knowledge of the artistic diversity in our world.
I do not want them to lose interest in learning simply for the lack of resources in my classroom and in their homes. When you love school, you will always love to learn. Art is therapeutic and is essential for life long learning. Help me open doors for my students.
My Project
When my students try to draw or paint pictures of themselves, they struggle trying to mix colors to match someone who looks like them. The multicultural paints and bright and beautiful paints, along with the appropriate brushes, help this. Having modeling dough for the English Language Learners to be able to retell cultural stories through dough figures adds that extra realia, especially in the lower grades when their vocabularies are not quite so extensive.
My little ones find art to be therapeutic and universal, so they actually need to be able to express themselves as such.
With language deficiencies, home struggles, poverty and other issues making it difficult for them to have success in school, art is often what levels the playing field for them.
Everybody needs something special about themselves that they can be proud of. Help my students be all that they can be by supporting their art education.
