My students need a Sandusky Lee Mobile Art Cart, craft felt, Blickrylic paint, children brushes, wiggle eyes, glitter glue, plastic containers, finger paint, drawing paper and tissue paper.
Even though my students attend school in a low income, high poverty school district, they don't let life get them down. The majority of my students come from broken homes; where as, their parent(s) are in jail, they are being raised by grandparents, they are living in foster care or they are homeless.
My First Graders are resilient!
No matter what life throws at them they overcome it to become the best they can be. My students are very hard working and always striving to achieve their full potential inside and outside of the classroom.
My Project
Donating to my classroom is the best way of "Empowering Students Through Art" that I can think of. My students love art, but unfortunately it was cut from our district. Providing my students with Art activities within our classroom, will help them better understand Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. We will be able to build and design our town and community helpers, we will be able to bring books to life through shadow boxes and paintings and we will be able to design habitats and life cycles. These are only a few of the many art activities my students will engage in with these supplies.
Art is a great way for students to design, create and explore their own creativity, without fear of judgement.
I believe Art is extremely important in student development. It not only helps them discover themselves, but also helps them express themselves.
