My Students
We serve kids from all different schools across the valley and when COVID hit we had to eliminate some of our more hands on curriculum classes, one of them being art. Art has proven so helpful for students especially students dealing with declining mental health. It's a wonderful form of expression and is so important for the students who have so much to say but so little words.
My Project
These resources will directly relate to helping our students here at Cache High express themselves through art in ways that words just will not do. The pandemic has not been easy on anyone but most of all students. Having their entire routine set aside while the world battled a deadly pandemic was understandably taxing on adolescents mental health. Art is a very personal yet universal opportunity for kids to express themselves in several different ways. I specifically focused on alcohol ink and watercolor because there are so many possibilities available when using those two mediums. Students are truly able to create something entirely original in a way that makes sense to them. I have personally seen the impact of art therapy and would love to help our kids, in any way that I can, find some peace in the midst of all the chaos the world has to offer.
