Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are passionate about connecting with their cultural heritage and learning about other cultures. Students have shown enthusiasm when we explore Latin American authors and their works. What makes our students truly special is their ability to relate literature to personal and contemporary experiences - a skill that can be further developed through hands-on creative projects.

To support this, we need the following materials:

- Mixed media art supplies (colored paper, scissors, markers, paint, canvases, tape, glue, tissue paper, drying rack, rolling cart to store materials and make them easily accessible to students)

-Sticky note activities supplies (poster paper, markers, post-its)

-Classroom supplies (tissue, fidgets, rolling laptop cart)

These resources will enhance students' learning by allowing them to create visual representations of literary themes, enabling hands-on exploration of cultural symbols, and supporting project-based learning that connects literature with visual arts. They will also support collaborative activities where students contribute ideas on sticky notes, fostering discussion and diverse perspectives. My goals for these projects are to increase student engagement through multi-sensory learning experiences, help students develop deeper connections with Latin American Literature, foster creativity while building analytical skills, and create a more inclusive learning environment that celebrates cultural diversity.

Every day, I am inspired by our students’ eagerness to learn and their incredible creativity. With these materials, we can transform their enthusiasm into meaningful, lasting learning experiences.
