My students need dimmer light to set a relaxed tone before starting our marbling unit in art class. I want to test out marbling kits before ordering a larger set, and have trays to organize materials.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a pubic NYC high school in the Two Bridges neighborhood. Our students come from all over the city-- stretching from as far as the North Bronx and Far Rockaway. We provide students with authentic learning experiences that empower them with the skills to contribute to their communities and succeed in college and career. By constantly applying what they learn in the classroom and industry, students will develop the confidence to pursue their dreams and the character to serve their communities.
My Project
My classroom is in the basement of our school building with no natural light, and a lot of fluorescent light. I would like to purchase lamps as an alternative to the fluorescent lights to set a calmer tone in the classroom.
The trays will help distribute and collect materials in a more organized and efficient manner.
Students mark rubrics and sign their artwork with felt tip pens, but already many have gone missing throughout the year so I want to replenish the stock. Additionally, I am purchasing one marbling kit to test out and compare to other brands before ordering a larger class set.
