it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in an large urban school district with a high low income/poverty population. My students are ages 3-5 and include children with special needs, hearing impairments and English language learners. A large percentage of my students are from low My classroom is these children's first experience. I love seeing their excited faces as they enter school each day. Coming to school my be their first opportunity away from home and being with other preschool children.I hope to make coming to school a safe, creative , educational and exciting time in their life!
My Project
Many of my students enter my classroom without the experience of working with art materials. Through art children have the opportunity to express themselves, along with developing fine motor skills. Art can be open ended so children can feel that their is not right or wrong way to create art.
Through the materials that I am asking I can enhance my classroom and lessons.
I can use the materials as an extension of a story or theme we are learning about. The children can develop their fine motor skills which will help their pre-writing development. Children can also develop their math skills through the play dough math mats, stencils, painting shapes, and counting out and naming colors of different materials. These materials can help children develop their language and social emotional skills through sharing of materials and feeling pride in their work!
