Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The girls in my classes come from different backgrounds all over Austin, Texas. They start off as little 6th graders coming from their different elementary schools and spend seven years being challenged as ”Young Women Leaders”. By the time they are graduating, they are a tight knit group who is ready for college.

My Project

In the classroom, or in our homes, we have continued to foster a love for exploring, experimenting and creating! As we plan to return to the classroom in the fall, I hope to have a system set up that will take safety and responsibility into account. Since our students historically share art supplies and materials in the art classroom, we are hoping to create individual art kits that enable students to feel safe and learn responsible artistic behaviors.

Each student will receive basic art materials such as a notebook, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners and colored pencils.

With these basic art supplies students will be able to continue learning inside and outside of the art classroom.
