This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my first year teaching a bilingual pre-kindergarten class and I want to incorporate art across the curriculum.

I teach in a Spanish bilingual dual language pre-kindergarten class in Brooklyn.

Some of my students are learning Spanish and others are learning English. For many of them this is their first time in school and they are excited to learn a new language.

My Project

I want to do many art projects with my students. For example, they will use the paint, paper and brushes during our unit about communities to paint their families and neighborhood. We will use the tissue paper during Hispanic heritage month to make "papel picado". They will use the wood stick to make characters from the books that we read in class. They will also use the play dough during center time to create whatever they imagine with their hands. Furthermore, my Pre-K students will use the art easel to paint and enjoy using a vertical surface. This especially important for my students who struggle with painting on the table.

In an early childhood classroom is important for children to have to time to explore and learn through art.

I want to make sure that we have the right materials to create many hands-on projects.
