This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Art is a universal subject. It can be understood by people from all walks of life no matter what language they speak. I enjoy teaching art to students of immigrant families. They may not have full command of the English language, but they know how to express themselves creatively using art.

My students are enthusiastic artists.

They love to do anything in art from painting and drawing to ceramics and weaving. Many are English language learners, as they have just immigrated to our country. Their parents are eager for their children to succeed in their new home and show a great appreciation for our cultural climate. Many are artistic at home, so the students bring that love of art with them to class.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of different art supplies and technology for my art classes. For my 6 centers, I need color cones and book bins. This is so the students know where to sit for each center and to look in the book bins for their directions and vocabulary lists. One of our centers is technology, and we need headphones so our Nooks don't disturb the others in the class. Another of our centers is watercolor painting, and we need AAA batteries for the 6 musical brushes. At our drawing center we need Rainbow Scratch Art boards for students' creative drawings. The eight tempera colors will give an assortment of colors to the painting center. As you can see, running an art class with 6 art centers gives my students a variety of choices through different art mediums.

This project will enable my art students to work creatively in our 6 art centers: a quiet technology center, 2 drawing centers, 2 painting centers, and crafts.

Each of the art and technology items I have requested will be used by my art students in their creative endeavors. Thanks for supporting our art projects on Donorschoose.
