My students need art materials that are not otherwise available to them. We are not in a district where monies are readily available for art materials. We depend on your donations to reach our artistic potential!
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my main goal is to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to make art and love lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My students are me 20 years ago. They are growing and learning in the same small, tight knit, school community that inspired me to be a teacher. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. I want to be the best for them!
My Project
The materials that we are able to purchase with our DonorsChoose donations are materials that make all the difference in our art programs a KE Elementary. I am not able to provide these without your donations. Right now, we are in need of drawing paper, colored pencils, markers, storage bins for our tables and other items.
My students love art class and look forward to it each week, your donations help me make that possible.
Other school districts may get their supplies easier than we do, but our students appreciate everything they have and are able to get. Basic art materials are a necessity for our students to be successful. The purchase of these needed materials will help impact our school year greatly.
