This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Chemistry to a diverse group of artistic students at a Title I visual and performing arts school in downtown Los Angeles. Students come to our school from all over the city to our public high school to receive a top notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual or theater) and go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country. When my students start reading about all of the chemicals they come into contact with everyday, they are surprised, curious, and eager to learn more!

My advisory class of visual arts students are constantly drawing, painting, coloring, and refining their artistic expression in various classes and art shows throughout the year.

My Project

My advisory students have some amazing talent! They are in the visual academy at my school and have multiple arts classes in their schedule.

These requested coloring pencils, micropens, acrylic paints, sketchbooks and watercolors have been handpicked by my students for being the highest need supplies to aid in their artistic expression.

These will be an excellent resource for them no matter which art medium they specialize in. Creating a drawing, mixing a color, or using ink to fine tune a design are one of many steps in artistic expression that my students showcase throughout the year, especially in the various art shows they are a part of. Having a set of these various supplies for my students to be able to take home and use will give each of my advisory students the tools they need to be successful in MULTIPLE classes they take.

As an added bonus, the thank you letters you receive will likely be some of the most beautiful drawings you have ever seen from high school students!
