This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to our small charter school so that they will not get lost in the over two thousand student local high school. Their parents have big dreams for their children but many lack the knowledge of how to get to college. Over 90% of our students will be first generation college students and many have parents who did not have the opportunity to go to high school.

Graduation day is amazing at our school.

Watching a student be the first one in their family to walk across the stage and receive a diploma, is a life-changing experience. Knowing that they are on their way to college makes all the hard work worthwhile.

My Project

The seniors at my high school create compassion projects every year to help their community. During distance learning, it has been harder to think about ways to give back when they can not physically be the in the same room as those they are serving.

Five of our seniors girls want to do art projects on zoom with elementary school students to bring some fun and creativity to their day.

My students know how hard it is to be on zoom all day and they wanted to design a project that helped the younger students and give them a time to connect to older kids.
