Art Supplies and Literacy Resources for Room 208's Little Learners

Help me give my students the materials they need to stay engaged in all activities. Room 208 needs art supplies, literacy resources, and sensory materials to meet the needs of all of the wonderful students in this class!

My Students

I am so fortunate to work with a group of students who are unique and special in many different ways. I work with special needs students in kindergarten through second grade. All of my students require full-time special education support in order to help increase their skills in each area of development. Most of my students are nonverbal and have behavior challenges. We are located in a public, inner-city school in a high-poverty neighborhood where students receive free breakfast and lunch every day. My goal is to create an engaging environment that meets the unique needs of all of my students! Thank you for taking the time to learn about the amazing students who I work with!

My Project

My students require engaging activities to help keep them interested and motivated to learn. Art activities help my students make connections to our monthly units and read aloud stories, as well as develop their communication skills. To help keep our art activities and literacy lessons exciting and new for students, I am in need of more art supplies and literacy resources for my classroom.

I am asking for several new books that connect to the different themes that my class studies throughout the year.

Having a variety of stories about the same topic helps keep my students engaged in our thematic units. I am also asking for several sound puzzles to help increase student vocabulary.

To help spark the interest of all of my students, I am asking for a variety of art supplies. Every week, students complete art activities related to our monthly theme, but right now, our art activities are limited because we do not have the appropriate materials to ensure that all students can complete activities successfully. I am asking for adaptive paint brushes, pipettes, scoopers, and tweezers to meet the fine motor needs of all of my students. I am also asking for various forms of paint and craft supplies to ensure that all activities promote engagement and curiosity.
