My Project
My students are my family. The joy of being an art teacher is that I develop strong relationships with the students as well as their parents. I have the privilege of teaching them 5 years in a row. I get to watch their creations grow from scribbles to masterpieces. Our art stools have been in our studio for 30 years. They are starting to split across the top, pinching the students legs and bottoms. My students deserve better than that! They work hard on their creations, but this has caused frustration for them as well as myself.
My goal for this project is to replace my stools with flexible seating options in conjunction with slanted boards that will help my students to develop stronger core muscles, better posture and improve their fine motor skills during their art studio time.
These stools and options will give them opportunities to grow using their muscles and their posture.
I hope by providing them with these secret tools that they can improve across all areas where fine and large motor skills are needed.
