My Students

I teach in a city school in MA. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My class, as a whole, has children with many children with diverse needs. I have children in my class with autism, developmental delays, and communication disabilities. I also have many students that English is their second language.

The children are fun and energetic.

I feel it is my job to keep them excited about school and provide a fun, safe, loving, respectful learning environment.

I love these kids as if they were my own. I have been teaching kindergarten for eight years and every year, these students teach me more and more about myself. They show me love, kindness and laughter and there is never a dull day!

With your help, I will be able to provide my kids with the supplies they need to make learning fun!

My Project

Art is a natural activity to support free play in children! Art allows for exploration and experimentation! Being a little artist is not only fun, but educational as well. Art allows kids to practice a wide range of skills that are useful not only for life, but also for learning!

Art in motion!

Grasping pencils, crayons, chalk and paintbrushes helps children develop their fine motor muscles. This development helps young kids with writing, buttoning a coat and other tasks that require controlled movements.

Art can help children learn and practice skills like patterning. They can also practice critical thinking skills by making a mental plan or picture of what they intend to create and following through on their plan.

Children can learn, create and begin to understand concepts like size, shape, making comparisons, counting and spatial reasoning.

As children describe and share their artwork, as well as their process, they develop language skills.

Most importantly, they also get to feel proud of their accomplishments and have fun!
