My Students
We are a small, K-8 school in a culturally diverse neighborhood in New York City. My students are enthusiastic, expressive, curious learners from all different backgrounds. They are excited to learn and make amazing art projects. They love painting, drawing, sculpting with clay, and really anything they can be creative with! With budget cuts having affected New York public schools in recent years, it has become difficult for us to sometimes purchase even some of the most basic of supplies for our classroom.
My Project
We are hoping to get clipboards for sketching and new floor seating. The art room currently has six student tables and 6 chairs at each table. I have always had a large area for art discussions, reading books etc. This year I am changing up the layout and going to include flexible seating options that will help all students to learn.
I would like to have several comfortable places in the art room for students to explore creativity and imagination while creating artwork.
I currently have a small sitting area where students can draw as they sit on the floor. Along with sitting at tables and on the floor, I would love for my students to have a more comfortable area to create art. Students will use clipboards for their artwork if they choose to sit somewhere other than the table.
The adjustable recliner stadium seats will be used for all grades K-8. Students love learning and creating in an environment that feels safe and comfortable for them. Thank you so much for donating!
