This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is amazing and provides basic supplies we need in the classroom without reservation. My students have great attendance and are eager learners. They love it when I bring out my supplies of games, art projects and playdough for free choice time. The dot markers and watercolor paint will enhance my weekly art projects and free time options, fostering creativity and open-ended projects.

Many of my students missed preschool and therefore missed some of the tactile learning that flourishes in early childhood education.

I want to bring back opportunities for hands on creativity that is lacking in basic supplies of paint and construction paper. I make playdough but lack tools to play with it. Playdough and Kinetic sand will be used for both basic play and literacy lessons like phonics, spelling and handwriting. I've been wanting to try short pencils to increase success at handwriting. We use fat pencils at the beginning of the year, but soon, students need thinner pencils to fine tune their writing. Short pencils are easier to use for little hands.

Most of my students are high needs and would burst with pride with an actual gift to give a parent, so I've included some ready made projects that can be customized into valued parent gifts.

My room is going to be amazing this year with lots of space for centers including a library area. My school installed bright florescent lights a few years ago and I'd like to up my game from Dollar Store table cloths to more soothing light covers.
