My students come from a variety of places, cultures, and viewpoints from our region. Our students embody passion, and are constantly striving to engage in the world around us, and develop ideas and work that can better our world. The effort they take to change our world and be empowered inspires me every day.
As artists, my students are excited and eager to develop their voices and visual communication skills to connect and present their ideas to our community, within our school, and at large in our region.
Art is a common language that not only defines humanity at its essence, but it can be and should be accessible to everyone. All students can have a voice and a place in art.
My Project
We are an art department of 1 teacher and classroom serving over 250 students at MHMS. Our kids have amazing ideas and creativity. Sometimes we want to enter contests or get references to improve our works, or share our awesome art in hardcopy form with others. For all of these reasons and more, we really need our own dedicated color printer for the art room. We have been sharing the color printer in the library for the past year and a half. Our librarian has been very gracious. However, it takes away from our valuable classroom studio time in order to go print there and come back, and oftentimes, there are errors or issues in getting our work in a timely manner. Having our own dedicated workhorse printer means we get to use our time more efficiently and share our work with others in more tangible ways!
