I am an art teacher on a cart traveling to each classroom inside and outside of the school. I teach 550+ students a week. I always show step-by-step hands-on demonstrations for each lesson. We often learn about artists to support our art projects. Technology is imperative for our learning.
Our school has a very diverse population.
Our students love learning! They are inquisitive, eager, and full of ideas and creativity. They simply need the necessary technology to explore the world around them.
Children today are growing up surrounded by technology. My students are at a distinct disadvantage when technology is not available to support their learning. Many have more access in the home than in the classroom. I am trying to close the gap.
The state of Georgia adopted the Common Core Curriculum which requires increased rigor and the use of digital resources. My students need the materials I am requesting to meet and exceed their learning goals. More and more resources are online. We need to be able to access all the resources out there!
My Project
I am requesting a laptop and a document camera. I am an art teacher rolling into each room. The students often cannot see demonstrations and are not able to view all of the resources and artwork. We look at and discuss art and artists from all over the world. The laptop sleeve would protect the laptop when I carry it from room to room while the cables would enable me to configure the laptop and camera into any classroom arrangement. I would be able to deliver the lessons with more emphasis on the visual resources. I do not have the advantage of bulletin boards and walls for hanging visuals.
The materials I am requesting would be helpful in my own classroom, but on a cart, visiting all the different classrooms with different set ups, they would allow the lesson to be adapted for all of the students. I hope I inspire each student. I want them to have a love of art and a desire for a lifelong interest in culture and the arts.

I can see the difference in their knowledge from year to year. I LOVE when they see a new artist or review a concept and recall a lesson from years earlier. These materials will enable all of my students to have a great view of the demonstrations with new art media, tools and new techniques. We could see the reproductions more clearly. I can only imagine how the increased knowledge will enhance their personal artworks!
