This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." -Henry Ward Beecher My students are discovering the joy of creating art.

These children face a world of uncertainty and extreme poverty.

But, time and time again, they surprise me with their ability to spring back, put their best feet forward and strive for a sunnier future. For many of them, art is a chance to stand out in the crowd and shine.

My Project

We have basic art supplies, but we are missing a few odds and ends. Our students have won many contests. Last year, one of our own had a page on the "Trashing Texas Beaches Isn't Cool" calendar. His art was chosen from over 6,000. entries. Any artist will tell you that having the right materials matters when you're striving for excellence

Hands-on art activities teach independence, patience, cause and effect, and creative problem solving.

These are traits that our students' future employers will be looking for. By supporting our art program, you are giving our students the chance to develop as artist and as people.
