My students need hands-on science kits and art tools to make learning at our newly endorsed STEAM school (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) come to life!

My Students
Have you ever tried to teach someone to bake cookies without flour, eggs, or even measuring cups? This is the challenge I face trying to teach science to my 5th graders without dynamic hands-on tools to illustrate scientific principles. Books alone are not enough.
The students in our school come from families with a wide range of cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
As you walk around our playground, you might hear over 15 languages spoken! Despite the extreme financial challenges our school district is facing, we are determined to spur our students to greater heights. As part of the "Right Brain Initiative," our school values Art as a tool for deeper learning. We are also now a "STEM" school, collaborating with volunteer members of our community to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The students in my classroom celebrate our cultural differences and use them to build a unique community. We are active and love to learn. We have a variety of personalities, learning styles and interests, but it doesn't keep us from working together as a team of students who care about each other.
My Project
The various Science Kits we are requesting will help the students make real world connections to their learning. The closed Electrical Circuits they create will be rewarded with noises, lights, and projectiles! The Chemistry Kit will help them quickly see chemical reactions as they mix solutions together and observe the dramatic results. An abstract universe will become more tangible as they manipulate the Earth/Moon Kit. The Art Supplies will be used as another way to illustrate their discoveries in beautiful and creative ways.
I truly believe these children can be the next generation of scientists, engineers, and artists.
Putting these tools in their hands can be just the spark they need to begin a life of innovation.
