My students need various art supplies to get the school year going. Budget cuts continue to plague us and the arts are always the first place that suffers.
I am a 5th grade teacher with a diverse group of students. They speak many different languages and come from various socioeconomic backgrounds. Although they are all different, they all have a great desire to learn and express their creativity in a variety of ways. They enjoy learning about various academic subjects and are always excited to expand their knowledge of the arts.
Our public school is small and has a diverse student population.
Our multicultural atmosphere is wonderful for learning, and we are a California Distinguished School, recognized for outstanding achievement in education.

My Project
My students are such creative young artists but without the appropriate tools I am unable to mold and hone in on those artistic skills. It is so important that students be introduced to various art mediums as they explore their artistic talents. The students will use paints and colored pencils to create amazing art work. The hope is to expose students to lots of artistic projects that they otherwise would not have had access to.
I would love to have my students use good quality colored pencils as well as acrylic paints to learn about various artist techniques as well as the different styles of visual art.
Nothing disrupts the learning process like using materials that do not work properly.
